Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 4, 2026
BlueGuard ("Company", "we", "us") operates the WeatherView.io website and the StormGuard weather alert platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit WeatherView.io or receive weather alert messages through our platform.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information Provided by Your Insurance Carrier
When your insurance carrier enrolls you in weather alerts through our platform, they provide us with:
- Your name and property address (for weather alert matching)
- Your mobile phone number(s) (for message delivery)
- Your policy type (home, auto, or both)
This information is provided to us under the terms of our agreement with your insurance carrier. We act as a service provider processing this data on behalf of your carrier.
b) Information Collected Automatically
When you visit WeatherView.io or click links in weather alert messages, we may collect:
- IP address and approximate location
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and links clicked
- Date and time of access
c) Message Engagement Data
When you receive weather alert messages, we collect:
- Message delivery status (sent, delivered, read)
- Whether links in the message were clicked
- Reply messages (e.g., STOP, HELP)
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Determine which weather alerts affect your property location
- Deliver timely weather safety alerts via RCS or SMS
- Direct you to relevant safety resources from the National Weather Service, Red Cross, FEMA, and other authorities
- Measure message delivery and engagement to improve service quality
- Provide aggregate reporting to your insurance carrier (e.g., delivery rates, engagement metrics)
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With your insurance carrier: We provide aggregate engagement data and delivery reports to the carrier that enrolled you.
- Service providers: We use Twilio for message delivery. Twilio processes your phone number and message content solely for delivery purposes under our data processing agreement.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.
4. Data Retention
We retain policyholder data for as long as your insurance carrier maintains an active enrollment for you. Message delivery records are retained for up to 24 months for reporting and compliance purposes. If your carrier removes you from the platform, your personal data is deleted within 30 days.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
6. SMS and RCS Messaging — Your Choices
To stop receiving SMS messages: Reply STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive a one-time confirmation message, and no further messages will be sent to that number.
To get help: Reply HELP to any message for assistance.
To re-subscribe: Contact your insurance carrier to be re-enrolled.
Please note:
- Opting out of SMS/RCS messages does not unenroll you from your carrier's weather alert program — it only stops message delivery to your phone number.
- If you have multiple phone numbers on file, you must reply STOP from each number you wish to opt out.
- Your insurance carrier may also provide separate opt-out instructions.
- Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on weather activity in your area.
7. Cookies and Tracking
The WeatherView.io website uses minimal cookies for basic functionality. We do not use advertising trackers or sell browsing data. Links in weather alert messages contain unique identifiers to measure engagement, which helps us and your carrier understand whether safety information is reaching policyholders effectively.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.
9. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@blueguard.ai or contact your insurance carrier.
